In the Palos Verdes area, five people were arrested for lobster poaching. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife reported two separate instances of poaching. The poaching occurred during a closed season, which is in place to allow lobsters to reproduce.

In one case, two individuals were caught with lobsters, and in another, a group of three people were found with lobsters. A total of 17 lobsters were involved in the two incidents. All five individuals were released with citations.
